In an effort to educate the public about rising digital fraud, Visakhapatnam City Police has created a series of 24 short films explaining different types of cybercrimes. Each film highlights the modus operandi used in 24 common cyber fraud cases and aims to help people understand how such scams operate.
The initiative is designed to spread awareness, prevent people from falling victim to cybercriminals and reach wider communities through digital platforms. The films will be circulated across social media channels to inform citizens about common online fraud tactics.
A day before the official release, the films were screened at a conference held at the state secretariat. After watching the presentation, N. Chandrababu Naidu, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, appreciated the initiative taken by the city police for using digital content to raise public awareness.
During the presentation, Shankhabrata Bagchi, Commissioner of Police in Visakhapatnam, shared statistics highlighting the growing impact of cybercrime. He explained that people across the country have lost about Rs. 30,211 crore due to cyber and financial fraud in various cases.
