Microsoft launches Copilot Health to deliver AI-powered personalised medical insights

Artificial intelligence is increasingly shaping how individuals understand and manage their health data. In a new step toward AI-enabled healthcare tools, Microsoft has introduced Copilot Health, a feature designed to provide personalised insights by analysing user medical data.

The company announced the new capability through an official update, describing it as “a separate, secure space within Copilot where medical intelligence makes sense of your information and delivers personalised it insights that you can act on.” The tool aims to address the challenge of managing large volumes of it data while providing more personalised medical guidance.

It allows users to upload and connect it records from different sources such as wearable devices, medical test reports and other digital platforms. After analysing the information, the AI system can answer questions about everyday it concerns, ongoing conditions and general well-being. Users can also ask for suggestions on improving their overall.

However, Microsoft emphasised that the AI system is not intended to replace doctors or professionals.

According to the company, its systems already respond to more than 50 million consumer health queries every day. To improve reliability, It includes citations and links to original sources when generating responses. Users can also view expert-written answer cards from Harvard Health Publishing.

The platform can also help users find doctors or hospitals that accept their insurance.

At launch, it supports more than 50 wearable devices and digital health platforms, including Apple Health, Oura and Fitbit. With user permission, it can also access it records from more than 50,000 hospitals and healthcare providers in the United States. Lab test data from Function Health can also be uploaded to the system.

Microsoft said user privacy remains a priority. Health data will be stored separately from regular Copilot data and will be protected through additional privacy, safety and access controls. Users will also have the ability to manage or delete their data and disconnect wearable devices or other data sources whenever they choose.

Currently, it  is launching in English for users aged 18 and above in the United States. Microsoft plans to introduce additional languages, voice capabilities and broader regional support in the future.
