Strengthening its AI integration across workplace tools, Google has introduced its Gemini AI across several apps in the Google Workspace ecosystem. The update brings AI-powered features to Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides, and Google Drive to help users work faster with automated assistance.
The integration allows users to draft documents, analyse data, and create summaries using AI. Gemini can also pull information from connected services such as Gmail and Google Chat to help users start projects more quickly.
In Google Docs, users will see a “Help me create” button that can generate instant drafts. In Google Sheets, a new =AI() function can build tables and create formulas automatically.
Google Slides also receives AI capabilities. Users can generate images and remove backgrounds within presentations using Gemini tools.
Meanwhile, Google Drive introduces AI Overviews that provide smart summaries of files. The platform also adds natural-language search and a feature called “Ask Gemini in Drive”, which helps users query and organise files more efficiently.
At present, these AI features are available in beta for Google AI Pro and Google AI Ultra subscribers.
Google confirmed that Docs, Sheets, and Slides support English globally. However, the new AI tools in Google Drive are currently available only in the U.S.
The company has not specified availability for Education plans yet.
