WhatsApp may introduce ‘WhatsApp Plus’ premium plan with new customisation features

A new subscription-based feature may soon change how users personalise their messaging experience. Reports suggest that WhatsApp is working on an optional premium plan called ‘WhatsApp Plus’, which could introduce additional customisation tools while keeping the platform’s core services free.

The proposed plan is expected to allow users to personalise the app’s look and feel. This may include options to change the app icon, access exclusive stickers, and use special ringtones. Despite these added features, essential services such as calling, texting, and sending voice notes will continue to remain available to all users without any cost.

According to reports from a technology tracking platform, WhatsApp Plus may offer several visual customisation options. Users could get access to 14 new app icons and multiple accent colour choices for the interface. These additions are aimed at giving users more control over how the app appears on their devices.

Another major feature under the subscription model could be an expanded limit for pinned chats. Currently, users can pin 3 chats, but the premium plan may increase this limit to 20, making it easier to keep important conversations at the top of the chat list.

Subscribers may also receive exclusive ringtones designed with distinctive styles. These could allow users to personalise their call notifications and easily recognise WhatsApp calls compared to alerts from other applications.

Reports further suggest that WhatsApp may gradually introduce more features for premium subscribers. These could include exclusive sticker packs not available to regular users, along with more interactive message reactions in the paid version.

The report also notes that WhatsApp Plus is still under development. Once released, it may be available for both Android and iOS users. However, the company has not yet confirmed the specifications, pricing, or official launch timeline for the subscription plan.

Alongside this, WhatsApp is reportedly testing a Scheduled Messages feature. This feature could allow users to write messages in advance and set them to be delivered automatically at a specific date and time. Scheduled messages may appear in a dedicated section within the chat info screen, where users can review, edit, or delete them before they are sent.

The feature could help users plan birthday wishes, reminders, or work-related messages without relying on third-party tools or automation apps.
