Nothing launches Headphone (a) with adaptive ANC and customisable controls

Expanding its audio portfolio, Nothing has introduced the Nothing Headphone (a) in global markets on Thursday. The new over-ear headphones arrive alongside the Nothing Phone 4a lineup and serve as the brand’s second over-ear audio device after the Nothing Headphone 1. The model is positioned as a more affordable and expressive alternative, combining a lightweight design, adaptive noise cancellation and customisable controls while maintaining the company’s signature industrial-style aesthetics.

The Headphone (a) is priced at GBP 149 (around Rs. 18,200) in the UK, $199 in the US (around Rs. 18,200), and EUR 159 (around Rs. 17,000) in Europe. It is offered in Black, White, Pink, and Yellow colour options. According to the company, global pre-orders begin today through its official website and select retail partners. Open sales for the Black, White, and Pink variants will start on March 13, while the limited-edition Yellow version will be available from April 6. The company has not yet announced pricing or availability for India.

The headphones feature a lightweight build weighing 310g and include breathable memory foam ear cushions designed for long listening sessions. They come with Adaptive Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) that automatically adjusts the level of noise cancellation based on the surrounding environment. For voice calls, the device uses a 3-microphone Environmental Noise Cancellation (ENC) system to isolate the user’s voice and reduce background noise. It also includes Static Spatial Audio technology, which aims to deliver a surround-sound style listening experience.

The device uses the company’s physical control system integrated into the earcups, including Roller, Paddle, and Button controls for adjusting volume, switching modes and navigating tracks. The Button also supports Channel Hop, allowing users to quickly switch between apps and functions. It can also work as a Camera Shutter trigger for taking photos or recording videos on a paired smartphone remotely. Users can customise audio settings through the Nothing X app. The company claims the headphones can deliver up to 135 hours of playback, equal to 5 days, on a single charge. Fast charging is also supported, where 5 minutes of charging provides up to 5 hours of playback. The device carries an IP52 rating for dust and splash resistance.
