Honor teams up with ARRI to bring cinema-grade video technology to smartphones

In a move aimed at improving smartphone video capabilities, Honor has announced a partnership with ARRI during Mobile World Congress 2026.

The collaboration focuses on integrating professional filmmaking technology into smartphones. With this partnership, the companies plan to introduce cinema-quality video recording features designed for compact mobile devices.

ARRI is a Germany-based manufacturer of motion picture film equipment founded in 1917. The company develops professional film cameras, lenses, lighting systems, and post-production equipment used widely in the film industry. Over the years, ARRI has received 20 scientific and technical awards from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

Through this partnership, Honor and ARRI aim to bring professional cinematic video capabilities to smartphones, helping creators capture high-quality footage directly from mobile devices.

“Our goal is to bring a true cinematic aesthetic to smartphone imaging — natural color, gentle highlight roll-off, and a sense of depth that feels authentic to how stories are meant to be seen. Creators should be able to move seamlessly from mobile capture into professional post-production workflows.”

The first device expected to feature the collaboration is the Honor Robot Phone. The smartphone is scheduled to launch later this year and will debut the camera technology developed through the Honor–ARRI partnership.

Smartphone brands have increasingly been working with established imaging companies to enhance the camera performance of their devices. This collaboration reflects the growing focus on professional-grade photography and video capabilities within mobile technology.

With the integration of cinematic video technology, Honor aims to offer creators tools that support professional-level storytelling while maintaining the convenience of smartphone recording.
