Government debunks fake legal notice linked to Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre

The government has debunked a letter being circulated on social media of the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre, sending a legal notice.

The Fact Check Unit of the Press Information Bureau, in a social media post, informed that the letter is fake and has not been issued by the Intelligence Bureau.

It said no such letter has been issued by any organisation under the government.

The Fact Check Unit stressed that agencies never send arrest threats or legal notices through email, WhatsApp or social media.

It has urged people not respond to such messages or share personal details.
