Bringing nearly 30 years of experience across capital markets, international sales and institutional investor engagement, in his new role, Karim will help strengthen the firm’s institutional investment banking capabilities across emerging and frontier markets. He will also leverage his strong network across US and global capital markets to deepen investor relationships and support growth initiatives.
Before joining Arqaam Capital, Karim served as Managing Director at EFG Holding. He previously spent over 7 years as CEO of EFG Hermes USA, where he led the firm’s US operations. During this period, he expanded relationships with US institutional investors and positioned the firm as a key link between global capital markets and Middle East investment opportunities.
Earlier, he was Director of International Sales – US at CI Capital. In this role, he focused on building the firm’s presence in the US market and worked closely with research, investment banking, and asset management teams. He also served as Managing Director at Beltone Enclave Securities, where he established and led the US sales platform, strengthened institutional investor relationships, and drove market share growth.
Karim began his career as a Member of the NYSE and Floor Trader at Mogavero, Lee & Company, Inc., gaining hands-on experience in trading and market operations.
With deep expertise in capital markets, investor relations, geopolitical risk, and private equity networks, Karim Baghdady’s appointment strengthens Arqaam Capital’s leadership as the firm continues expanding across emerging markets.
