Expanding its wearable portfolio, Huawei introduced the Huawei Watch GT Runner 2 globally at an event in Madrid on Thursday. The launch took place alongside the Huawei Mate 80 Pro and Huawei MatePad Mini.
The new smartwatch marks Huawei’s return to professional running watches after 5 years. It features a titanium build and a new 3D floating antenna system designed to improve GPS accuracy. The company claims the wearable delivers up to 14 days of battery life and supports advanced tracking for both elite and amateur runners.
Price and availability
In the UK, the Huawei Watch GT Runner 2 is priced at GBP 350 (roughly Rs. 42,900). It is currently available on the Huawei UK website. The smartwatch comes in Dawn Orange, Dusk Blue, and Midnight Black. There is no confirmation yet on availability in other markets, but announcements may follow in the coming weeks.
Marathon-focused features
Huawei has introduced an Intelligent Marathon Mode developed with the DSM-Firmenich Running Team. The watch offers structured training plans, personalised race preparation, and real-time race data. Users can track pace, predicted finish times, and target gaps.
It also includes a digital pacer, fuelling reminders, lactate threshold tracking, running power metrics, and a Running Ability Index. The Huawei Health app provides post-run recovery insights and form analysis.
Sports and health tracking
The smartwatch supports 100+ sports modes, including trail running, swimming, cycling, golf with access to 17,000+ courses in select markets, and freediving up to 40 metres. It comes with 5 ATM and IP69 certifications for water and dust resistance.
Health features include ECG monitoring, heart rate variability analysis, blood oxygen tracking, sleep monitoring with breathing awareness, and stress tracking.
Connectivity and battery
The 3D floating antenna architecture is claimed to improve positioning accuracy by 20 percent over previous models. It supports dual-band L1+L5 GPS and satellite systems such as GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo, QZSS, and NavIC. The watch can continue tracking route and distance even if signals drop in tunnels or dense city areas.
It supports Bluetooth calling, NFC payments, standalone music playback, and QR code scanning. The device charges wirelessly and offers up to 14 days of battery under light use, 7 days under typical use, and 32 hours in outdoor workout mode with precise positioning enabled.
The case, bezel, crown, and buttons are made of titanium alloy. The watch measures 43.5×43.5×10.7mm and weighs about 34.5g without the strap. It comes with a breathable AirDry woven strap that improves airflow by 25 percent, along with a fluoroelastomer strap.
