Uber unveils new platform to support large-scale autonomous vehicle rollout

A fresh push into autonomous mobility is taking shape as a global ride-hailing company opens its ecosystem to self-driving technology developers.

Uber has launched Uber Autonomous Solutions, a new platform designed to help companies build and deploy self-driving robotaxis, delivery robots, and autonomous trucks. The platform was introduced on February 23 and is aimed at accelerating real-world deployment of autonomous vehicles.

The new offering connects autonomous vehicle developers to Uber’s existing ride-hailing and delivery network. Through the platform, partners gain access to real-world driving data from multiple cities, advanced mapping tools, regulatory support, and options for fleet financing.

Uber Autonomous Solutions is positioned as an end-to-end toolkit for AV developers. It includes APIs for routing and estimated arrival times, training data, and venue management tools. On the rider side, new in-car interfaces are also planned. These will begin with robotaxi tablets developed in partnership with Nuro and Lucid.

For daily fleet operations, the platform offers remote assistance, mission control features, and insurance support. Uber says these tools are designed to help partners manage vehicles, respond to issues quickly, and keep autonomous fleets running smoothly at scale.

Looking ahead, Uber plans to support the expansion of robotaxi services to more than 15 cities by the end of 2026. To achieve this, the company is working with several partners, including Volkswagen.

Alongside the platform launch, Uber has also committed $100 million toward building charging station infrastructure. The investment underlines the company’s broader focus on preparing for an autonomous and electric future.
