The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has opened applications for YUVIKA 2026, its Young Scientist Program aimed at introducing school students to space science and technology. The initiative is designed to spark early interest in STEM careers and build foundational knowledge in space applications.
The online registration process will begin on February 27, 2026, and close on March 31, 2026. Students studying in Class 9 as of January 1, 2026, from any school across India are eligible to apply.

Selection will be merit-based. Class 8 marks or the most recent exam results will carry 50 percent weightage. The online quiz will account for 10 percent. Participation in science exhibitions and co-curricular activities over the past 3 years will carry 2–10 percent weightage depending on level. Extra marks will be awarded for Olympiads, sports achievements and participation in Scouts and Guides, NCC or NSS. Students from rural schools in Panchayat areas will receive an additional 15 percent weightage. ISRO has also ensured minimum representation from each state and union territory.
The programme will be conducted at 9 ISRO centres, including the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre, Satish Dhawan Space Centre and U.R. Rao Satellite Centre.
ISRO will cover all costs related to study materials, accommodation and meals. Travel expenses up to second AC train fare or equivalent bus fare will be reimbursed upon submission of original tickets.
Through YUVIKA 2026, ISRO aims to nurture young talent and inspire students to explore opportunities in science, technology, engineering and mathematics from an early stage.
