In a move that reflects deepening global research collaboration, Thales has expanded its corporate innovation footprint by setting up a new research facility in India.
Thales has inaugurated Thales Research & Technology India in Bengaluru, marking India’s entry into the company’s network of 5 global corporate research hubs. The other centres are located in France, the UK, Canada, and Singapore.
The launch took place alongside the India AI Impact Summit and the India-France Year of Innovation 2026. This timing underlined the growing technology partnership between India and France and the shared focus on advancing next-generation innovation.
The new research facility is located within Thales’ Engineering Competence Centre in Bengaluru. It will focus on key technology areas, including real-time embedded software, edge computing, embedded AI, and the exploration of open-source hardware concepts. These focus areas are designed to strengthen Thales’ capabilities in emerging technologies and support its broader global research and development agenda.
With this addition, Thales aims to accelerate innovation by combining its global research expertise with India’s strong engineering and technology talent base. The centre is expected to play an important role in advancing cutting-edge research while contributing to the company’s international R&D network.
The establishment of Thales Research & Technology India also reinforces India’s position as a strategic hub for high-tech innovation. It highlights the country’s growing importance in global research ecosystems and its ability to support advanced technology development at scale.
