NSIL partners GalaxEye to distribute advanced satellite data from private constellation

In a significant step for India’s space data ecosystem, NSIL has partnered with GalaxEye to distribute satellite data, marking the first time NSIL has collaborated with a domestic private company for satellite data distribution.

Under this partnership, the two will jointly distribute high-end satellite data from a 10-satellite constellation that will be deployed over the next 4 years. The initiative is expected to address data gaps for both government and commercial users by providing wider and more reliable access to advanced Earth observation data.

Mission Drishti, scheduled for launch in early 2026, will be India’s largest privately-built satellite, weighing around 150-160 kg. It will also be the world’s first satellite to integrate Synthetic Aperture Radar and a multispectral imager on a single platform. This capability allows the satellite to capture high-quality images both day and night and in all weather conditions.

Drishti’s technology can compress 400 MB of raw SAR data to less than 1.5 MB and process the data in under 10 minutes. This enables faster delivery of detailed and information-rich images. Such capability is expected to support critical use cases including disaster management, border surveillance, agriculture planning, and infrastructure monitoring.

The satellite has already cleared rigorous qualification tests at ISRO’s UR Rao Satellite Centre, demonstrating its ability to withstand harsh space conditions. In parallel, GalaxEye has successfully tested its advanced SyncFusion system, further strengthening mission readiness and paving the way for the upcoming launch.
