Dr. Nandan Sahay brings over 29 years of experience in human resource management across the power, mining, renewable energy, and research sectors.
He has built deep expertise in strategic HR, organisational development, industrial relations, and change management. Before joining RINL, he held senior HR leadership roles at NTPC Limited and its joint ventures with Indian Oil Corporation and Coal India Limited. He also worked closely with various state governments. In these assignments, he managed HR functions for large greenfield and brownfield projects and supported major transitions and takeovers across thermal, hydro, gas, and mining operations.
Over the years, he has served as Additional General Manager (HR) at NTPC, Chief Human Resource Officer at Hindustan Urvarak & Rasayan Ltd (HURL), and Chief Human Resource Officer at Kanti Bijlee Utpadan Nigam Limited. He also led HR for the NTPC Tapovan & Lata Hydro Power Projects in Uttarakhand. At NTPC NETRA Greater Noida and PVUNL Patratu, he played a key role in HR policy formulation, employer branding, and organisational capability building.
Dr Sahay is an alumnus of Xavier Institute of Social Service, Ranchi. He earned a PGDPM in Personnel Management & Industrial Relations and received a gold medal from NIPM. He holds an LLB from CCS University. He has also submitted his final doctoral thesis titled “A Critical Evaluation of Human Resource Practices in the Power Sector” for a PhD in HR & OB at Ranchi University.
In his new role at RINL, Dr Sahay is expected to strengthen the company’s people strategy, enhance its industrial relations framework, and drive talent development initiatives as the organisation advances its operational and strategic priorities.
