Airtel Africa welcomes Amit Thapliyal as SVP – Brand for Airtel B2B Africa

In his new role, Mr. Thapliyal will lead brand strategy for Airtel B2B Africa, a key part of Airtel B2B International. The unit serves large corporates, governments and global enterprises across multiple African markets. It focuses on connectivity, data centres, cloud, IoT and digital solutions. As one of Airtel’s fastest-growing regions, Africa remains central to the group’s revenue diversification and enterprise growth strategy.

Thapliyal brings nearly 2 decades of experience across B2B marketing, product marketing and go-to-market leadership in IT services, enterprise software and SaaS businesses. Most recently, he served as Senior Vice President – Marketing at PeopleStrong, where he joined in 2020 to build the marketing function and sharpen the brand narrative. During his tenure, the company delivered 3X YoY growth, executed successful GTM strategies across SEA, ANZ and MEA, emerged among the few profitable HCM SaaS players, and saw its acquisition by Goldman Sachs.

Earlier, Thapliyal held leadership roles at Altudo, serving 2 years as Vice President – Marketing after initially working as Global Marketing Director. He has also worked at HCL, where he built multi-million-dollar B2B Digital Enterprise, VAS and B2C mobility product portfolios, balancing enterprise revenue with large-scale B2C and eCommerce channels.

Thapliyal was a founding member at Vinculum, helping scale the VC-funded SaaS company through multiple investment rounds backed by Accel and IvyCap. At Altudo, he consulted Fortune 500 companies and led GTM initiatives for global brands such as Sitecore and Similarweb.

Amit views marketing as a trifecta of wallet share, market share and mindshare. He believes in strong cross-functional collaboration to build integrated communication strategies that support every stage of the client journey, from pre-sales to growth and retention.

He is an active industry speaker and founding member of BMAX – B2B Marketing Advisory & Exchange.
