Mr. Takkar will lead efforts to enhance the company’s distribution framework and accelerate branch-driven growth across urban, semi-urban, and rural markets.
In his new role, Harjit Takkar will oversee nationwide distribution strategy, focusing on improving branch banking productivity, customer acquisition, and scalable execution. His appointment aligns with Muthoot Fincorp’s ongoing push to reinforce its leadership in gold loans while expanding its diversified financial services portfolio.
Before joining Muthoot Fincorp, Harjit Takkar was with IndusInd Bank, where he most recently served as Zonal Head – Branch Banking and Executive Vice President for Delhi NCR. Earlier, he led the South 1 Zone, managing over 230 branches across Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Karnataka. He held full P&L responsibility, covering liabilities, asset distribution, customer experience, and third-party product sales, while leading large, geographically dispersed teams.
Prior to IndusInd Bank, he held senior roles at Bandhan Bank as Zonal Branch Banking Head for North and West India. He played a key role in expanding the bank beyond its eastern base, launching over 100 branches and scaling deposit and asset portfolios in competitive markets.
Takkar also spent several years at YES BANK, progressing to roles including President and Regional Business Head and Group Executive Vice President – Regional Business Leader. During his tenure, he led operations across Maharashtra, Goa, Punjab, Jammu & Kashmir, and Mumbai, driving growth in branch banking, acquisitions, and relationship-led business through both expansion and crisis periods.
Harjit Takkar began his banking career at ICICI Bank, where he spent close to a decade in branch banking and wealth leadership roles. Over the years, he has developed strong expertise in retail banking, distribution-led growth, customer engagement, and large-scale team leadership across India and international markets.
