As AI tools become more advanced, differences in how models respond to the same question are becoming more visible. To address this challenge, Perplexity has launched a new feature aimed at improving accuracy and clarity for users seeking well-rounded answers.
The AI-powered answer platform has introduced a new mode called Model Council. This feature allows users to run a single query across 3 different AI models at the same time. The platform then compares the responses and presents a concise set of insights that highlight key takeaways, areas of agreement, and points of difference. Users can also review each model’s full response separately.
According to the company, Model Council is designed to reduce the effort required to cross-check information across multiple AI systems. As different models often approach complex topics in unique ways, users previously had to manually compare responses from tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini, or Claude to gain broader context.
Perplexity explained that once the 3 selected AI models generate their independent answers, an in-built synthesiser model processes the outputs. It then creates a structured table showing where the models align, where they differ, and any unique insights offered by each system. This enables users to quickly verify information and grasp the core findings without reading multiple long responses.
The company said Model Council is best suited for situations where accuracy and multiple perspectives are important. Suggested use cases include investment research, complex decision-making, creative brainstorming, and cross-verifying facts.
At present, Model Council is available only to Perplexity Max subscribers. However, the company has indicated that access may be extended to users on the Pro tier in the future.
Aravind Srinivas, CEO of Perplexity, shared an update on X, saying, “We’re going to figure out ways to provide access to Council Mode to our Pro users too. There will be rate limits of course since it’s expensive to run this, in which case it would make sense for Pro users to upgrade to Max in that case.”
The launch reflects Perplexity’s focus on making AI-assisted research more transparent and reliable by allowing users to compare multiple model outputs within a single interface.
