Texas Instruments opens 550,000 sq ft R&D centre in Bengaluru, marking 40 years in India

Strengthening its long-standing presence in the country, Texas Instruments has inaugurated a new 550,000 sq ft product research and development centre in Bengaluru, completing 40 years of operations in India.

The newly launched facility is aimed at advancing semiconductor innovation and includes collaborative workspaces and integrated circuit design laboratories, according to a company statement. The centre will mainly focus on the development of analog and embedded processing technologies for global markets.

The inauguration was attended by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, who holds the portfolios of Railways, Information & Broadcasting, and Electronics & Information Technology, along with senior leadership from Texas Instruments.

“TI has been a true pioneer in India’s semiconductor journey and stood as a testament of consistently nurturing the design talent ecosystem in India. The company’s expanded investment reinforces India’s position as a global hub for semiconductor design, development and supports our vision of building an innovation-led nation,” Vaishnaw said.

Texas Instruments became the first multinational company to establish an R&D centre in India in 1985, a move that laid the foundation for the country’s growing semiconductor design ecosystem.

“TI India’s product development and design teams drive research and breakthrough innovations for customers worldwide. Our world-class engineers are central to pioneering the next generation of semiconductor advancements,” said Santhosh Kumar, president and managing director, Texas Instruments India.

Currently, the company employs thousands of professionals across India and continues to expand its operations. This includes the recent launch of an additional sales office to support its increasing customer base in the country.

The new Bengaluru facility further underlines Texas Instruments’ long-term commitment to India as a strategic centre for semiconductor research, design, and innovation.
