Vanderlande has opened an India Innovation Centre in Pune to support its worldwide customers across warehousing, airports, and parcel logistics. In a statement issued on Thursday, the company said the centre will focus on end to end engineering capabilities, including robotic automation, autonomous systems, artificial intelligence, and digital physical integration. The facility will play a key role in developing smarter and more efficient automation solutions for customers globally.
“The India Innovation Centre underscores our confidence in India’s expanding role in Vanderlande’s technology journey. For our customers, automation is no longer optional–it is essential. Our Innovation Centres are pivotal in creating smarter, more efficient solutions,” said Astrid van Druten, Chief Financial Officer of Vanderlande. Manish Patil, managing director of Vanderlande India, added, “The inauguration of our new India innovation centre marks an important milestone that reflects Vanderlande’s confidence and continued investments in Vanderlande India. The centre embodies our ambition to support innovation and make a positive impact on worldwide operations.”
The Pune facility is spread across 2 acres and brings research and development, system testing, training, and global collaboration into a single environment. It is also Vanderlande’s second largest technology hub globally, after the Netherlands. The centre highlights a broader shift in how global capability centres in India are moving from execution focused roles to higher value engineering, research, and system innovation.
Vanderlande India has grown steadily over the years from a support unit into a GCC with more than 1,300 employees, covering R and D, software development, core engineering, and shared services. Founded in 1949, Vanderlande is a global leader in logistics automation and employs over 11,000 people worldwide. The company reported a turnover of €2.3 billion in FY2025 and has been part of Toyota Industries Corporation since 2017.
