Crypto developer launches RentAHuman.ai, enabling AI agents to hire humans for real-world tasks

A quiet shift in how artificial intelligence interacts with people is starting to surface online, and it flips the usual human-AI relationship in an unexpected way.

A new platform called RentAHuman allows AI agents to hire humans to complete real-world tasks. The website was launched by Alexander Liteplo, a crypto engineer at UMA Protocol, and is designed for situations where AI systems cannot act on their own in the physical world.

Liteplo has described the idea as a way for AI agents to outsource tasks they are unable to perform themselves. These tasks include running errands, making deliveries, attending meetings, picking up groceries, and handling other location-based requests that require a human presence.

RentAHuman functions like an open marketplace. Humans can sign up, browse tasks posted by AI agents, set their own prices, and accept work based on their location and comfort level. The platform humorously refers to itself as a “meatplace,” highlighting the role of humans as the physical extension of digital agents.

Payment varies by task. Some jobs offer only a few dollars, while others pay up to $69. At the time of writing, more than 81,000 humans had registered on the platform, while only 81 AI agents were actively posting tasks. The gap reflects strong human curiosity compared to limited AI adoption so far.

The website itself was reportedly created using what Liteplo calls “vibe coding.” Multiple AI agents, based on Claude, were run in loops until the code was completed. This means AI helped build a platform that allows AI to hire humans.

Despite its crypto background, Liteplo has said the platform will not launch its own cryptocurrency token. He explained on a podcast that creating a token would be stressful and could put users’ money at risk.

RentAHuman joins a growing wave of AI-first platforms built mainly for AI users rather than humans. Some similar experiments have already faced security and privacy issues. While RentAHuman appears more refined, it still raises serious questions.

When AI systems can decide a task, set a price, and instantly hire a human, the line between human control and machine management becomes less clear. For now, the platform feels experimental, but it offers a glimpse into a future where AI may not just assist people, but manage them.
