Amid rising concerns over cyber fraud targeting internet users, Meta has launched the 3rd edition of its “Scam Se Bacho” campaign in India to raise awareness about common online scams.
The company behind Instagram and Facebook has partnered with the government for the initiative. The latest phase features actor Neena Gupta along with well-known digital creators in a series of awareness videos. These videos focus on scams such as fake job offers, digital arrest threats, and investment frauds.
The campaign is being rolled out in 9 regional languages to ensure wider reach. It includes television advertisements, social media content, and training sessions for law enforcement agencies. With cyber scam cases continuing to rise across the country, Meta is encouraging users to stay alert and make use of its Block and Report features whenever they encounter suspicious activity.
As part of the campaign, citizens are also being reminded to seek immediate help by calling helpline 1930 if they believe they have been targeted by an online scam.
Government officials have described the initiative as a timely step toward strengthening online safety in India. The campaign also highlights the importance of financial caution in the digital space.
SEBI’s chairman reinforced this message by advising citizens to be careful before making financial commitments, stating, “Citizens must remain vigilant and ensure they engage only with SEBI-registered entities before making any financial investment decisions.”
The overall message of the campaign is clear. Users are urged to stay alert, verify information before acting, and look out for one another. Speaking up and reporting scams early can help prevent wider harm and protect more people from falling victim to online fraud.
