After a successful pilot run in December, a new cooperative-led ride-hailing platform is set to make its formal entry into the Delhi-NCR market, promising lower fares and better earnings for drivers.
Bharat Taxi, described as the country’s first cooperative ride-hailing app, will begin operations in Delhi-NCR on February 5. The platform has already onboarded more than 1.4 lakh drivers and claims to offer fares that are up to 30% lower than existing app-based cab services.
Unlike conventional ride-hailing models, Bharat Taxi operates on a cooperative structure, similar to organisations such as Amul and IFFCO. Drivers pay a flat daily fee of ₹30 and retain almost all of their earnings. Each driver is also allotted 5 shares in the cooperative and is eligible for dividend benefits.
The app has ruled out surge pricing, keeping fares constant throughout the day. Safety and support features include GPS tracking, verified driver profiles, and a dedicated helpline. In addition, passengers can access support through 35 complaint booths operated with assistance from Delhi Police.
Bharat Taxi plans to start its Delhi-NCR operations with nearly 2.5 lakh vehicles. The company has also outlined plans to expand its services to other parts of India in the coming months.
The app is currently available for download on both Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
By focusing on stable pricing, driver ownership, and cooperative benefits, Bharat Taxi is positioning itself as an alternative to existing ride-hailing platforms in one of India’s busiest urban markets.
