Oakley and Meta bring AI-powered smart glasses for athletes to India

Oakley and Meta have officially introduced their latest smart glasses in India. The new Oakley Meta Vanguard is aimed squarely at athletes and fitness enthusiasts who want real-time information without breaking their rhythm.

The Oakley Meta Vanguard is priced at ₹52,300 and is now available across leading optical retail stores, including Sunglass Hut and LensCrafters. The smart glasses come equipped with a built-in camera, fitness tracking support, open-ear audio, and Hindi voice command functionality.

Designed specifically for high-intensity activities, the Oakley Meta Vanguard is built to support workouts, long-distance running, cycling, and other high-action sports. The product combines Oakley’s performance-focused eyewear design with Meta’s AI-powered smart features. According to the companies, the idea was to allow athletes to stay connected and informed during training or competition without stopping to check their phones or smartwatches.

For hands-free operation, the glasses feature a 12MP camera capable of recording videos at up to 3K resolution. The wide field-of-view camera supports slow-motion and hyperlapse video capture. Open-ear speakers are built into the frame, enabling users to listen to music, attend calls, or receive voice responses while still hearing ambient sounds.

In terms of performance, the Oakley Meta Vanguard delivers up to 9 hours of usage on a single charge, including around 6 hours of continuous audio playback. The charging case adds another 36 hours of battery life, while a quick charge provides 50% power in about 20 minutes. For fitness tracking, the glasses can connect with Garmin and other fitness applications via Meta AI. Users can ask voice-based questions about workout status or heart rate progress without looking away.

Built for rugged outdoor use, the smart glasses carry an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance. They are designed to fit comfortably with helmets and caps. Hindi voice commands support calling, messaging, taking photos, and controlling music. Oakley’s PRIZM lenses enhance colour and contrast, helping users see more clearly across different outdoor environments.
