Samsung readies Galaxy Watch 9, Ultra 2 and Tab S12 series

Early signs suggest Samsung has begun work on its next generation of premium tablets and smartwatches, following its usual release cycle ahead of the end of 2026.

Several upcoming devices have appeared in the GSMA database, pointing to active development. The listings indicate new models in the Galaxy Tab S12 lineup, the Galaxy Watch 9, and a new Ultra smartwatch that looks like a true successor to the original Ultra model.

At least 2 new Galaxy Watch models have been confirmed. The database shows the following model numbers:

  • SM-L345: Galaxy Watch 9
  • SM-L716: Galaxy Watch Ultra 2

For comparison, the Galaxy Watch 8 uses model numbers SM-L320, SM-L330 and SM-L335 based on size and connectivity. The Galaxy Watch Ultra models released in 2024 and 2025 both used the SM-L705 identifier.

The appearance of a new model number, SM-L716, suggests Samsung is preparing a full next-generation Ultra smartwatch rather than a minor refresh of the earlier version.

The GSMA database has also revealed 2 upcoming flagship tablets:

  • SM-X846: Galaxy Tab S12+
  • SM-X946: Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra

This hints at another change in Samsung’s tablet strategy. Last year, the company launched the Galaxy Tab S11 and Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra. The next lineup appears to skip the base model and move straight to Plus and Ultra versions.

For reference, the Galaxy Tab S11 carries model numbers SM-X730 and SM-X736, while the Tab S11 Ultra uses SM-X930 and SM-X936. The new numbering aligns with Samsung’s Plus and Ultra tiers, strengthening the idea that the standard Tab S model may be dropped again.

Samsung has shifted strategies before. It launched the Tab S10+ and Tab S10 Ultra, then replaced the Plus with the base Tab S11 a year later.

The company is expected to unveil its 2026 smartwatches at its foldable-focused Unpacked event, likely in summer. The Galaxy Tab S12 series could arrive later in 2026 through a separate launch.

Before that, Samsung is preparing to introduce the Galaxy S26 series, which is scheduled for release at the end of the month.
