Tata Communications rolls out AI-first platforms to power enterprise workloads

A strategic push into next-generation digital infrastructure signals Tata Communications’ intent to lead enterprises into an AI-driven operating era.

Tata Communications has launched a new suite of AI-first digital infrastructure platforms aimed at helping enterprises scale artificial intelligence workloads across distributed and multi-cloud environments. The company said the platforms are designed to support the growing complexity of AI deployments as data, models, and applications spread across networks and cloud systems.

The three newly launched platforms could together add up to $1 million to the company’s topline, CEO Amur S Lakshminarayanan told a business daily. He said these offerings are built for an “AI world” and are expected to grow faster than traditional connectivity services.

“They may start with a $100,000 monthly run rate but we expect them to reach $1 million quickly,” he said.

The first platform focuses on multi-cloud networking, allowing enterprises to connect data and AI models across fragmented cloud environments. The second offers unified network visibility and management across LAN, WAN, and cloud networks. The third is an edge distribution platform that provides content delivery, DDoS protection, and security for web-facing applications, similar to global CDN-based solutions.

In addition to platform launches, Tata Communications is working on creating special fast-track internet paths across India to reduce latency. The plan involves bypassing slower intermediate routes by directly connecting major hubs such as Mumbai and Delhi. This initiative was shared by Chief Technology Officer Genius Wong.

The company said all three platforms were developed in India, with a clear focus on global markets. This approach allows Tata Communications to scale its offerings locally while achieving stronger margins internationally. Executives noted that while India’s technology adoption is on par with global standards, overseas expansion enables better pricing and improved revenue margins.

As AI moves from pilot stages to core business decision-making, enterprises are facing rising infrastructure complexity. Tata Communications said its new platforms aim to offer a secure, unified, and intelligent foundation to meet these challenges.

In its press release, the company noted that as AI becomes central to business operations, many organisations are realising that older infrastructure systems were not built to support today’s AI ambitions.
