Quiet signals from the supply chain suggest Xiaomi is preparing to expand its flagship portfolio with a new 17 Max model, expected to debut as part of the 2026 lineup. Fresh leaks now point to significant camera upgrades and a possible launch timeline.
According to details shared by tipster Digital Chat Station on a Chinese social platform, the upcoming device is likely to feature a triple rear camera system led by a 200-megapixel primary sensor. While the post does not directly name the phone, discussions around it indicate the device in question is the Xiaomi 17 Max.
The main camera is tipped to use a 200-megapixel Samsung ISOCELL HPE sensor with a 1/1.4-inch size. It is also expected to include a 50-megapixel Sony sensor measuring 1/1.95 inches, along with a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera. The imaging system is said to be co-engineered with Leica. The same leak suggests the phone could launch in the second quarter of this year.
If confirmed, the Xiaomi 17 Max would offer more advanced rear cameras than the standard Xiaomi 17 and 17 Pro models. Those devices currently feature triple 50-megapixel rear camera setups. The Xiaomi 17 Pro Max also follows a similar configuration.
At the top of the range, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra stands apart with a more advanced camera system. It includes a 50-megapixel primary camera, a 50-megapixel ultrawide sensor, and a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto camera.
It has not officially confirmed the 17 Max so far. However, earlier leaks claim the phone could pack an 8,000mAh battery with 100W wired and 50W wireless charging support. It is also expected to feature a 6.8-inch display with narrow and symmetrical bezels and run on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset.
The Xiaomi 17 series currently includes the Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Pro, Xiaomi 17 Pro Max, and Xiaomi 17 Ultra. If launched, the 17 Max would become the 5th model in the lineup.
