Blinkit rolls out Bharat Yatra mobility card across major Indian cities

A move to simplify everyday commuting is taking shape as a quick commerce platform expands its services beyond groceries and essentials. The latest addition focuses on making public transport access easier across multiple cities.

Quick commerce platform Blinkit on Tuesday announced the launch of the Bharat Yatra National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) on its platform. The service is now live in Delhi NCR, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Chennai, and Ahmedabad.

The Bharat Yatra card is priced at Rs 50 and does not require a KYC process. It is designed to replace city-specific transport cards, making travel across different urban centres more seamless, according to Albinder Dhindsa, who is set to take charge as Group Chief Executive Officer of Eternal, Blinkit’s parent firm.

“Today, we’re launching the NCMC Bharat Yatra card on Blinkit. It is a Rs 50, zero-KYC, RuPay-powered card by Pine Labs, which supports instant UPI top-ups and also eliminates the need for city-specific transport cards. This is a meaningful step in enabling public transport usage (metro and buses) across different cities in India,” Dhindsa said in a social media post.

The card can be linked and activated through the Bharat Yatra mobile application. It comes with a validity of 5 years and offers a wallet limit of Rs 2,000. At present, the card can be used for metro services in Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, and Ahmedabad. It also supports bus travel in Mumbai and Chennai.

Blinkit’s involvement is primarily as a distribution enabler. By making the card easily available, the platform aims to reduce friction in urban mobility and improve access to common transit solutions for daily commuters.

The Bharat Yatra card is not exclusive to Blinkit and is also available on the e-commerce platform Flipkart.
