This appointment marks a major milestone in his 20-year journey with the group, shaped by global exposure and senior leadership roles across multiple markets.
Reflecting on his career progression, Sateesh noted that when he joined Vodafone in 2004 as a young professional in supply chain, he could not have foreseen the scale of opportunities ahead. He expressed gratitude to leaders, colleagues, and teams who contributed to his professional and personal growth across regions and cultures.
Over the last 3 years, Sateesh has served as Global Finance Director at Vodafone. Before this, he was Chief Financial Officer – EU Cluster, overseeing finance operations for businesses generating around €21 billion in revenue and managing €8 billion in annual investments across Europe, Australia, India, and partner markets. Alongside his group responsibilities, he continues to serve as Non-Executive Director at Vodafone Idea Limited, supporting governance and strategic oversight at one of Vodafone’s key joint ventures.
Between 2020 and 2023, Sateesh was Chief Financial Officer of Vodafone Business, where he led financial transformation and performance across enterprise markets. Prior to this, he spent 4 years at Safaricom PLC as Chief Financial Officer and Acting Chief Executive Officer, playing a key role in guiding one of Africa’s most successful telecom companies. Earlier, he served as Chief Financial Officer at Vodacom Tanzania Plc, strengthening financial discipline and business strategy in East Africa.
During his long association with Vodafone, Sateesh also held senior leadership roles including Regional Controller (AMAP) and Group Vice President, helping shape financial strategy across emerging markets. His early career included finance leadership roles at Amara Raja Batteries Ltd, Coca-Cola, and Coats, building a strong cross-industry foundation.
Sateesh completed senior leadership programs at London Business School and is a Certified Cost Accountant from The Institute of Cost Accountants of India.
As he takes on the Deputy CFO role, Sateesh has outlined a vision of building a “One Finance” organization, uniting group and operating company finance teams around a shared purpose focused on serving Vodafone customers better.
