In a major crackdown, the Gurugram Police have dismantled an interstate cybercrime gang and arrested 9 individuals from Rajasthan. Officials said the group was involved in online fraud carried out in the name of fake investment schemes and online gaming platforms.
According to authorities, the gang was linked to cybercriminals operating from Dubai. Victims were targeted through instant messaging groups and misleading links that promised high returns and gaming-related rewards. Many users were persuaded to share details or make transfers, which later resulted in financial losses.
A focused cyber police operation tracked the gang’s digital trail to a hideout in Kota, Rajasthan. The coordinated action led to the arrests on Wednesday, marking a key breakthrough in the case.
During the operation, police recovered 13 mobile phones, 3 laptops, and 37 ATM cards from the accused. Investigators said a large portion of the money collected through fraud was routed to Dubai, while the gang kept a commission for executing the scams.
Police officials confirmed that the arrested individuals have been sent to judicial custody. Further investigation is underway to identify additional members of the network and trace the full flow of funds.
The case highlights the growing challenge of cross-border cybercrime and the use of digital platforms to run organised fraud operations.
