Google launches new programme to help Indian AI startups scale for enterprise use

Google India has introduced a new initiative called the Google Market Access Programme. The programme is designed to help Indian artificial intelligence startups scale their products for enterprise adoption. It will allow startups to use Google wide distribution network and gain access to important international markets.

Startups selected for the programme will also be able to use Google latest and most advanced AI models. This includes the Gemini models for complex reasoning and the Gemma family of models for open research.

Speaking at the Google AI Startups Conclave in New Delhi on Thursday, January 15, Preeti Lobana, Country Manager of Google India, said, “India’s AI startup story has entered a decisive new phase. We are moving from prototypes to products, and from early traction to sustainable businesses.”

She added, “Our focus now is accelerating how quickly Indian startups can scale, reach global markets, and deliver outcomes. That is why we are strengthening our full stack support for startups across the lifecycle, from capability building to real world deployment and scale.”

In May 2025, Google announced the AI Futures Fund to invest in and work with AI startups across the world. A few months later, the company said it would collaborate with a venture capital firm to shortlist and jointly invest 2 million dollars in early stage AI startups through this fund.

India has emerged as a major user market for AI products. However, it still trails the United States and China in frontier model development. A joint report by Google and a research firm estimates that India AI market will reach 126 billion dollars by 2030. It also noted that more than 47 percent of enterprises have already moved their AI pilots into production.

The report, titled Bharat AI Startups Report 2026, said that public access to compute power is helping founders spend less on infrastructure and more on product innovation. It also highlighted Indic language models as one of India strongest advantages. Google said, “If an AI agent works reliably for a rural user in India, it is robust enough for the world.”

Google also shared that its support includes access to AI infrastructure and global data centre capacity. The company said, “Our upcoming Global AI Hub in Visakhapatnam will further strengthen this foundation, providing a future ready 1 gigawatt anchor for the AI economy.”

On AI safety, Google said startups can use its private AI compute service to keep sensitive data secure. It also highlighted its health focused AI model MedGemma 1.5, which is being used by a national medical institute to study complex medical images such as CT scans, MRIs, and histopathology slides. Developers can access MedGemma and other open models through HuggingFace and Vertex AI.
