British aero-engine maker Rolls-Royce is aiming to position India as its third “home market” after the UK, opening up new opportunities across jet engines, naval propulsion, and other advanced engineering areas, according to a social media post shared by the British High Commission in India on X on Monday.
The British High Commission said the move reflects the growing cooperation between India and the UK in advanced engineering and innovation. India already represents a significant market for Rolls-Royce, supported by engineering centres, supply chain partnerships, and collaborations with Indian aerospace and defence organisations.
Earlier, Rolls-Royce Chief Executive Officer Tufan Erginbilgic had outlined the company’s ambition to make India a “home market”, highlighting its long-term commitment to the country. His visit to India was part of an industry delegation accompanying UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer during his first official visit following the signing of the India-UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement.
During the visit, Rolls-Royce took part in key industry discussions focused on strengthening the India-UK economic partnership. These engagements are aligned with the India-UK Vision 2035, which aims to deepen collaboration across priority sectors.
With a legacy spanning over 9 decades and a steadily expanding presence in the country, Rolls-Royce has developed a strong ecosystem covering people, products, capabilities, and partnerships. The company continues to expand its in-country capabilities through strategic local partnerships and focused talent development initiatives.
As part of its growth plans, Rolls-Royce is targeting at least a doubling of its supply chain sourcing from India by 2030. Supporting this expansion, the company has recently inaugurated its newly expanded Global Capability and Innovation Centre in India. The centre brings together digital capabilities, enterprise services, and engineering teams that support its Civil Aerospace and Defence businesses.
