OnePlus may be developing a phone with 6.59 inch display and 8000mAh battery

OnePlus is reportedly testing a new mid size smartphone that focuses on performance and long battery life. A tipster has claimed that the company is experimenting with new display sizes and battery setups to strike a balance between power, endurance, and daily usability. The leaks point to flat LTPS screens, large batteries, and hardware aimed at sustained performance. While nothing has been confirmed, several reports suggest that OnePlus could be working on a device that sits between its regular and performance focused models.

Weibo tipster Digital Chat Station said that a factory, referred to as “Jiajia” in Chinese, has started testing a 6.59 inch flat display for an upcoming phone. According to the tipster, the device will feature a 1.5K LTPS panel with large rounded corners and equal bezels on all four sides. The phone is said to be under testing and positioned as a mid size performance model.

In the comments on the post, the tipster reportedly added that the display is being sourced from a local Chinese supplier rather than Samsung. When asked about battery size, the tipster claimed that phones with mid size displays can support battery capacities starting from 8000mAh, while larger screens face more limits when it comes to battery scaling.

Based on the repeated mentions of display size, battery capacity, and performance focused design, the device is believed to be a new OnePlus model. However, the company has not made any official announcement yet.

Earlier leaks had also mentioned a OnePlus engineering prototype with a 6.78 inch flat 1.5K LTPS display and a 165Hz refresh rate. That prototype was said to run on the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chipset and was designed for high performance with improved cooling.

That device was believed to be a possible OnePlus Ace 6 Ultra. It reportedly had large rounded corners, an ultrasonic in display fingerprint sensor, and was being tested with an 8000mAh class battery. Future versions could even feature a 9000mAh battery, along with custom performance tuning and an active cooling fan.
