India is emerging as a core pillar in Bosch’s global technology and innovation roadmap, with a strong focus on artificial intelligence driven solutions. The German manufacturing major is increasingly positioning India as a key development and software hub for smart mobility and industrial manufacturing, highlighting the country’s rising importance in its long term growth strategy.
Bosch has committed $2.9 billion to AI related innovations and sees India as central to its global software efforts. More than 20,000 of Bosch’s 38,000 software developers worldwide are based in the country. Speaking to a publication on the sidelines of the CES 2026 consumer electronics show in Las Vegas, Bosch board member and global chief digital officer Tanja Rueckert said several projects are fully led by teams in India from a development perspective. “So, India is a broad market. And for us, it’s also a key growth market. And that means that there are investments across the board,” she said.
Rueckert noted that while the US remains an important region, India stands out more strongly when viewed through a growth lens. “The USA is also an important region for us. But we believe, from a growth perspective, India is obviously much higher. And also, if you look at your GDP numbers, I think you are leading,” she said. Bosch is particularly bullish on smart mobility in India and is working closely with vehicle manufacturers on different elements of autonomous driving. The company believes self driving technology can adapt to diverse road conditions worldwide and will advance step by step. “We now better understand that self driving is not one button. It’s more like a puzzle, and you have to really get ready in many different directions,” Rueckert said.
Beyond mobility, Bosch sees strong growth potential in hydraulic systems and factory automation in India, driven by increased construction activity and energy related projects. The company is also witnessing deeper partnerships as India expands its electronics manufacturing push. “We see clearly an increase in business relationships and not only us, but kind of the ecosystem building up,” Rueckert said. At CES 2026, Bosch unveiled its AI Cockpit technology, developed through collaboration between teams in India, the US, and Germany, with India leading several cockpit and infotainment projects. Bosch’s 2026 Tech Compass survey found that 84% of Indian respondents believe technology makes the world better, while 85% feel innovation can help fight climate change.
