Strengthening its push to simplify digital payments, PhonePe has launched a new in-app checkout solution called PhonePe PG Bolt for Visa and Mastercard credit and debit card transactions.
The newly introduced feature is designed to offer a more secure and seamless checkout experience for users and merchant partners on the PhonePe platform. According to the company, PhonePe PG Bolt uses device tokenization to enable faster and more efficient in-app payments while reducing friction during the checkout process.
PhonePe Payment Gateway said the solution allows users to tokenize their Visa and Mastercard cards just once on the PhonePe app. Once tokenized, these saved cards can be used across all merchants integrated with PhonePe PG, eliminating the need to repeat the tokenization process for each merchant.
By replacing sensitive card details with secure digital tokens, the system removes the requirement for entering the CVV for future transactions made on the same device. This significantly reduces the number of steps involved in completing a payment, while keeping users within the merchant’s app environment and avoiding redirects to external pages.
Commenting on the launch, Yuvraj Singh Shekhawat, Chief Business Officer of Merchant Business at PhonePe, said the new feature marks an important milestone in improving digital payment experiences.
“By leveraging device tokenization, we will enable users and merchants to move away from the traditional, cumbersome checkout process to a secure, one-click payment experience. This not only enhances user convenience but also empowers our merchant partners to maximize their growth through industry-best success rates and reduced drop-offs,” he said.
PhonePe added that merchants using its native SDK can benefit from higher transaction success rates and faster checkout speeds. The improvement comes from eliminating manual card entry and reducing technical hand-offs between payment systems.
The solution also offers a customizable interface that integrates directly into a merchant’s existing app flow. This helps maintain brand consistency while lowering transaction drop-offs and improving overall customer experience.
With PhonePe PG Bolt, the company aims to make card payments quicker, safer, and more efficient for millions of users and businesses across India.
