A fresh round of approvals is set to strengthen India’s electronics manufacturing ecosystem and attract large scale investments across multiple states.

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has approved 22 new proposals under the Electronics Components Manufacturing Scheme. These projects are expected to draw investments worth Rs 41,863 crore and generate projected production valued at Rs 2,58,152 crore. Companies included in the approvals are Dixon Technologies India Limited, Samsung Display Noida Pvt Ltd, Foxconn Yuzhan Technology India Pvt Ltd and Hindalco Industries.

Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw handed over the approval letters. According to the ministry, the newly cleared projects are expected to create 33,791 direct jobs. These approvals add to an earlier batch of 24 applications cleared under the same scheme.

The latest proposals focus on components and sub assemblies that are critical to key sectors such as mobile devices, telecom, consumer electronics, strategic electronics, automotive and IT hardware. The ministry highlighted that strengthening these segments is essential for building a resilient domestic electronics ecosystem.

The approved projects are spread across Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. They cover a wide range of components including PCBs, capacitors, connectors, enclosures, Li ion cells, camera modules, display modules, optical transceivers, aluminium extrusion, anode material and laminate.

In its note, the ministry said the objective is to strengthen local supply chains, reduce dependence on imports and support the growth of high value electronics manufacturing within the country.
