Gautam Adani inaugurates AI centre of excellence at Baramati

A new academic initiative focused on artificial intelligence was launched in Baramati with the opening of a dedicated centre of excellence.

Gautam Adani on Sunday inaugurated the Sharadchandra Pawar Centre of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence in Baramati, located in Maharashtra’s Pune district. The facility has been set up under Vidya Pratishthan, an educational institution governed by the Pawar family, and is funded by the Adani Group chairman.

Several senior political leaders and members of the Pawar family attended the inauguration ceremony. Those present included NCP SP chief Sharad Pawar, Baramati Member of Parliament Supriya Sule, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament Sunetra Pawar, and other members of the extended Pawar family.

NCP SP MLA Rohit Pawar and Yugendra Pawar, who serves as treasurer of Vidya Pratishthan, were also present at the event.

This is not Gautam Adani’s first visit to Baramati. In 2022, he had visited the town to attend the inauguration of the Science and Innovation Activity Centre. Baramati is located around 110 km from Pune and is considered the political stronghold of the Pawar family.

The association between Sharad Pawar and Gautam Adani is understood to date back nearly 2 decades, reflecting a long standing relationship between the two.

The inauguration of the AI centre adds to Baramati’s growing focus on education and innovation, with the new facility expected to support advanced learning and research in artificial intelligence under the Vidya Pratishthan umbrella.
