Signs are emerging that Samsung is widening its software testing beyond smartphones. User activity suggests that the company has begun preparing One UI 8.5 beta builds for several Galaxy tablet models, pointing to an expanded rollout plan in the coming months.
The One UI 8.5 beta programme started earlier this month for the Galaxy S25 series in select regions. New user reports now indicate that Samsung has also made test builds available for its latest tablets. The Galaxy Tab S8 series and the Galaxy Tab S11 series are said to be part of this testing phase. Fan Edition variants of the tablets have also been spotted running early versions of the update. Samsung launched the Galaxy Tab S11 series with Android 16 based One UI 8.
According to posts shared on a social media platform, Samsung has started internal testing of One UI 8.5 across multiple tablet line-ups. Test builds for the Galaxy Tab S8 series with versions X900XXU9EYL1 and X900OXM9EYL1 were seen on company servers in regions including India, Europe, Korea, and Turkey. The Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra Wi Fi and Galaxy Tab S11 Wi Fi appeared with build numbers X930XXU3AYL6 and X730XXU3AYL6. Reports also suggest testing is underway for the Galaxy Tab S10 series, Galaxy Tab S10 FE, Galaxy Tab S9 series, and Galaxy Tab S9 FE.
Based on release timelines, the Galaxy Tab S11 series could be among the first tablets to receive the stable One UI 8.5 update next year. Samsung recently released the One UI 8.5 beta for Galaxy S25 devices in markets such as Korea, the US, the UK, Germany, India, and Poland. In India, the Galaxy Tab S11 series was launched in September with prices starting at Rs. 80,999. The Galaxy Tab S11 features an 11-inch display, while the Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra offers a 14.6-inch screen. Both models are powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 chipset and pack 8,400mAh and 11,600mAh batteries respectively.
