A clear policy focus and steady governance have helped Uttar Pradesh move quickly toward becoming a major centre for information technology and digital services in India. The state is witnessing strong growth in investments, innovation and job creation as technology becomes a core part of its development roadmap.
The government led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has placed the IT and digital economy at the centre of its long term strategy. Emphasis on e governance, digital infrastructure, ease of doing business and investor friendly policies has encouraged companies from India and overseas to expand operations in the state. Administrative stability and timely execution of projects have added confidence among technology firms.
Under the Software Technology Parks of India scheme, close to 400 IT units are currently registered in Uttar Pradesh. These companies include startups, mid sized firms and global players working across software development, IT enabled services, cloud computing, artificial intelligence and digital platforms. Industry estimates suggest that the number of STPI registered units could cross 500 by 2026, leading to a sharp rise in IT exports from the state.
Noida and Greater Noida continue to drive this digital expansion, hosting data centres, fintech firms and advanced technology services. At the same time, cities such as Kanpur and Varanasi are emerging as new digital centres. This wider spread of technology activity is helping ensure balanced regional growth beyond the NCR region.
The presence of major global technology companies has further strengthened Uttar Pradesh’s position. Firms such as Microsoft, TCS, HCL, Wipro, Infosys, Paytm and Adobe have set up large operations in the state. Around 90 Global Capability Centers are already operational, focusing on research, innovation and high value technical work. This has created global career opportunities for local talent within the state.

This is helping align workforce skills with the goals of Digital India.
