A fresh acquisition move is set to expand HCLSoftware’s presence in enterprise data and analytics. HCLSoftware, the software business division of IT services company HCLTech, has announced plans to acquire Jaspersoft, a business unit of Cloud Software Group, for $240 million in cash.
The transaction is structured as an asset carve out, under which Jaspersoft’s 115 employees will move to HCLSoftware. The company said the deal is expected to be completed within 6 months from the date of signing.
This acquisition is aimed at strengthening HCLSoftware’s Data and AI division, Actian. Over the past 5 years, Actian has seen increasing demand for enterprise data management tools, including metadata management, data catalogues, and data governance solutions.
The Jaspersoft deal marks the 3rd acquisition by HCLTech in the same month and its 4th buyout in 2025. Just last week, the company acquired the telecom business unit of HPE through a similar asset carve out structure.
Jaspersoft offers a business intelligence and reporting platform that allows organisations to build reports, interactive dashboards, and advanced data visualisations. HCLSoftware said the acquisition will strengthen Actian’s offerings by enabling a complete and immersive data management experience. It is also expected to expand reach through a large global developer community that includes data engineers and architects.
“As GenAI adoption accelerates, our customers want business intelligence solutions that can deliver consistent analytics and reports and offer flexibility to fully own the analytics experience,” said Marc Potter, chief executive of Actian and portfolio general manager of HCLSoftware’s Data and AI division.
The transaction will be subject to regulatory approvals in multiple countries, including clearance from the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States.
“Jaspersoft has earned the trust of organisations worldwide through its embedded analytics capabilities. We believe HCLSoftware is a strong strategic owner for the business,” said Steven Schneider, general manager of the analytics business unit at Cloud Software Group.
