A senior leadership appointment is set to strengthen risk and governance capabilities at a global financial institution. Poonan Sahoo brings strong expertise in risk management, governance, and financial analytics.
In his new role, he will contribute to enhancing the firm’s capabilities across model risk and regulatory frameworks. His experience is expected to support complex risk assessment and compliance requirements within the organisation.
Before this appointment, Poonan Sahoo worked as a Senior Associate at TIAA. He also held progressive leadership roles at Genpact and JPMorganChase, where he was closely involved in model risk governance review activities. His work focused on strengthening oversight processes and ensuring alignment with regulatory standards.
Earlier in his career, he spent nearly 4 years at YES BANK in managerial roles. During this period, he worked on IFRS 9 implementation, credit risk models, Basel IRB approaches, and credit policy management. This experience helped him develop strong domain knowledge across banking risk and regulatory practices.
Poonan began his professional journey as a System Engineer at Tata Consultancy Services. In this role, he built a solid foundation in analytics and systems, which later supported his transition into financial risk and governance functions.
With experience across banking, financial services, consulting, and technology, Poonan Sahoo brings a well rounded perspective to his role at Goldman Sachs. His appointment reflects the firm’s focus on strengthening leadership in critical risk and regulatory areas.
