Andhra Pradesh charts long term tech vision with data and quantum focus

Andhra Pradesh is setting out an ambitious technology vision aimed at shaping its future growth through advanced digital and scientific infrastructure. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said the State is building a strong foundation to become a global technology destination with clearly defined regional roles.

Addressing the “Quantum Talk by CM CBN” programme, he highlighted Visakhapatnam as an emerging global hub for data centres, driven by strong subsea cable connectivity and robust digital infrastructure. He said these advantages are helping the city become a critical node in the global data ecosystem. Amaravati, meanwhile, is being developed as India’s dedicated Quantum Valley and is expected to anchor the State’s future knowledge economy.

Mr. Naidu explained that Andhra Pradesh is following a distributed innovation model. Tirupati is being shaped into a Space City, while Anantapur and Kadapa are set to grow as major electronics and aerospace hubs. He recalled the impact of his IT Vision launched nearly 25 years ago, noting that earlier policy decisions had transformed the then undivided Andhra Pradesh. “Just as Silicon Valley shaped the digital age, Amaravati’s Quantum Valley will anchor the knowledge economy of the future,” he said, while pointing to India’s strong scientific and civilisational heritage.

Sharing recent developments, the Chief Minister announced that Google is preparing to set up its largest data centre in Visakhapatnam. He also formally launched what he described as the world’s largest quantum skilling programme, which has already received over 50,000 registrations within just 10 days.

Looking ahead, Mr. Naidu said Andhra Pradesh aims to begin producing quantum computers within 2 years. He also unveiled plans for a Quantum and Green Hydrogen Valley backed by a 20 year roadmap. According to him, these initiatives will position Andhra Pradesh as a major contributor to India’s technology driven journey towards Viksit Bharat 2047.
