OnePlus is gearing up to launch its gaming-focused Turbo series in China next month, with a strong emphasis on display quality and performance. Leaks indicate that the upcoming smartphone will feature a high-end BOE display designed for smooth visuals, eye comfort, and efficient power usage. A global launch, including India, is also expected for at least one model.
According to a Weibo post by tipster Digital Chat Station, the OnePlus Turbo will sport a custom 1.5K LTPS display from BOE with a 165Hz refresh rate. The screen is reported to use a self-developed “Display P3 lite chip” and flagship-grade luminescent materials, which could improve colour accuracy to near-flagship levels while lowering power consumption and extending the panel’s lifespan.
The display is also said to focus on eye protection, supporting high-frequency PWM dimming to reduce strain during long gaming or viewing sessions. Slim bezels are expected, with the “black bar width” around the screen described as “surprisingly good.” The tipster noted that this may be the only BOE flagship-grade screen available in its expected price range, offering a balance of refresh rate, eye comfort, and display quality.
Earlier leaks suggested the OnePlus Turbo will feature a large 9,000mAh battery with 80W wired charging support. Internally, the device, codenamed “Volkswagen,” is aimed at high performance for a mass-market audience. The Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 variant could offer up to 16GB of LPDDR5x RAM and 512GB of UFS 4.1 storage, with AnTuTu scores reportedly crossing 2.6 million points. Another variant may use a Snapdragon 7-series chip, sharing the 165Hz display and large battery.
Camera details remain limited, but the phone is expected to feature two rear cameras. The OnePlus Turbo is likely to run Android 16 and weigh around 217g, featuring a 6.78-inch flat BOE LTPS display. More details are expected after the official unveiling in China in January.
