Oppo Pad Air 5 set for China launch with larger display and battery upgrade

Ahead of its official debut in China, Oppo has shared new details about its upcoming Pad Air 5 tablet. The device will arrive as the successor to the Oppo Pad Air 2 and will be available through the company website in the country.

The Pad Air 5 brings clear upgrades over the previous model. Oppo has confirmed that the tablet will feature a larger 12.1 inch display with a 2.8K resolution and peak brightness of up to 900 nits. The screen is also said to offer a flicker free viewing experience along with low blue light technology for improved eye comfort.

Additional details have been revealed through the tablet’s dedicated microsite. The Oppo Pad Air 5 will pack a 10,050mAh battery and run on ColorOS. Information related to the chipset, cameras, and connectivity features is expected to be shared in the coming days.

The company has already announced that the Oppo Pad Air 5 will launch in China on December 25 at 10am local time, which is 7:30am IST. The tablet will be sold via the Oppo China online store and will be available in 3 RAM and storage variants. These include 8GB RAM with 128GB storage, 8GB RAM with 256GB storage, and 12GB RAM with 256GB storage.

In terms of design, the tablet will be offered in Starlight Powder and Space Gray colour options. Both colours will also be available in Soft Light versions. Oppo has confirmed that buyers will be able to choose between Wi Fi only and Wi Fi plus 5G connectivity variants.

When compared to the Oppo Pad Air 2, the new model brings noticeable improvements. The Pad Air 2 was launched in China in November 2023 with an 8,000mAh battery and an 11.4 inch LCD display featuring a 90Hz refresh rate, 2.4K resolution of 2,408 by 1,720 pixels, and peak brightness of up to 400 nits.

With a bigger screen, higher resolution, and larger battery, the Oppo Pad Air 5 positions itself as a stronger upgrade in the company’s tablet lineup.
