In a move aimed at strengthening industry ready talent in India, Sona Valliappa Group has announced the launch of the Sona Centre for Advanced Learning and Entrepreneurship known as SCALE. The integrated campus is designed to bring companies and colleges under one roof to prepare students and professionals for the growing needs of Global Capability Centres, advanced manufacturing and emerging technology sectors.
The launch event was held at Sona Towers in Bengaluru, a location known for hosting India’s first Global Capability Centre by Texas Instruments in the 1980s. Speaking at the event, Thyagu Valliappa, Founder of SCALE, said, “SCALE is designed to make India’s talent globally competitive. As GCCs, advanced manufacturing firms and deep tech enterprises increasingly look to India for innovation led growth, SCALE will enable students and professionals to gain meaningful industry exposure through hands on learning in hot labs, leadership access and a structured Periodic Assessment Test (PAT), where performance can translate into higher pay scales.”
The project will come up in Bidadi, an industrial corridor near Bengaluru, with a planned investment of ₹150 crore. The campus will feature innovation spaces, laboratories and a hostel facility with accommodation for 2500 students and working professionals. The infrastructure is aimed at supporting immersive learning and close collaboration with industry partners.
The first batch of 120 students from Sona College of Management is expected to begin training in January 2026, while the campus is scheduled to be operational by mid 2026. The programme will include immersion with multiple companies, offering exposure to organisational systems and manufacturing environments. SCALE also plans to sign over 50 memoranda of understanding with organisations across technology, manufacturing and allied sectors to support applied research, live projects and mentorship. In addition, the initiative will work with the Karnataka Digital Economy Mission to upskill more than 3000 engineers across the state, according to the official statement.
