The Gates Foundation has announced a key leadership appointment in India with Archna Vyas stepping into the role of Country Director.
In her new position, Archna Vyas will lead the foundation’s work across India in close partnership with government bodies, civil society organisations, and the private sector. She will be responsible for advancing the Gates Foundation’s strategic priorities in the country, strengthening collaborations, and driving initiatives focused on public health, development, and social impact in line with the foundation’s global mission.
Archna Vyas brings close to 30 years of experience across communications, media strategy, and leadership. She has spent over 11 years with the Gates Foundation and most recently served as Deputy Director Communications in India, where she played a key role in shaping the organisation’s outreach and engagement efforts.
Before joining the Gates Foundation, Archna held senior roles at Reckitt across South East Asia and South Asia. Her earlier career also includes leadership positions at IMX India, Mindshare, Universal McCann, FCB, and Ogilvy & Mather. Over the years, she has worked with several global brands, including PepsiCo, Nestlé, BBC, Discovery, Duracell, and Seagram.
With this appointment, the Gates Foundation aims to further strengthen its impact in India by deepening partnerships and accelerating programmes that address critical development challenges across the country.
