Starlink has revealed the monthly pricing for its residential satellite internet service in India through its official website. The service will cost Rs. 8600 per month and will include unlimited data, a 30 day trial and a weather resilient connection that promises “higher than 99.9 percent uptime.” Customers will also have to pay a hardware fee of Rs. 34000 at the time of installation.
The website has not yet disclosed the pricing for its business plan in India.
Earlier this year, India’s space regulator granted Starlink the licence to begin commercial operations in the country. The firm had been waiting for complete approvals since 2022. With this clearance, Starlink will now compete with players such as Jio SES and the service backed by an international satellite communications company.
The government has yet to decide whether satellite spectrum will be allocated directly to these companies or offered through an auction process.
Once it receives the required spectrum, Starlink will need to build ground infrastructure and complete security evaluations and trials. The company began running technical demonstrations and security tests in October.
