Users of Blinkit can now make last minute additions to their orders through a new feature that lets them add items even after checkout while the order is still being packed. The platform is not applying any extra delivery cost for this and customers no longer need to place a second order if they forgot something.
Announcing the update, chief executive officer Albinder Dhindsa said, “New update on Blinkit: You can now add more items after ordering. Many of you asked for this, and we have now made it possible to include more items while your order is being packed. There is no additional delivery charge, and you will not need to place a second order just because you missed something.” He also encouraged users to share their suggestions to help improve the feature further.
The move comes at a time when quick commerce companies are testing new tools and categories to attract more customers. Zepto has started pilot testing two new offerings called Super Mall, which focuses on high value and premium products, and Zepto Diagnostics, an in app diagnostic service under its pharma section. Swiggy recently announced a Maxxsaver feature aimed at increasing cart sizes and also introduced a Food on Train service that is now available across one hundred twenty two railway stations in India.
A recent consumer study by a global financial institution shows that Blinkit is the most preferred quick commerce platform in the country. The survey revealed that 31 percent of users named Blinkit as their primary app, followed by Swiggy Instamart at 19 percent. Flipkart was chosen by 14 percent of respondents and Zepto by 12 percent.
