HMD Global announces XploraOne mini smartphone designed without social media access

HMD Global has introduced a new compact device called the XploraOne, created in partnership with a Finnish smartwatch maker. The mini smartphone is built to avoid the distractions of social media and focuses on essential communication, making it suitable as a first phone for children or as a simple secondary device for adults.

The XploraOne does not include an app store and does not support platforms like TikTok or Instagram. Instead, the device offers features aimed at helping parents manage how their children use the phone. These include limiting call times, restricting calls to selected contacts and monitoring photos and calendar entries. The phone also lacks a web browser, further reducing the possibility of unnecessary online exposure.

The device includes a rear camera with an LED flash, a headphone jack and built in 4G support. While full hardware details have not been confirmed, it is expected to share similarities with the HMD Touch 4G. That device features a three point two inch touchscreen with a resolution of three hundred twenty by two hundred forty, a Unisoc T127 processor, a two megapixel main camera and a one thousand nine hundred fifty milliamp hour battery. The XploraOne is very compact at around ten point two by six point two by one point zero nine centimetres and weighs about one hundred grams.

Pricing and availability details for the XploraOne will be announced soon. More information is available on the company’s official website.
