Sulzer has strengthened its presence in India with the launch of a new Global Business Services hub in Pune. The centre marks an important step in the company’s long-term strategy for India and supports its growing role in global operations. The Swiss technology company has been active in India since 1998 and continues to expand its capabilities across engineering, manufacturing and industrial services.
Over the years, Sulzer has developed multiple facilities in India. These include pump manufacturing and rotating equipment service units in Mumbai and Ambernath, advanced separation and purification equipment production in Pune, and turbomachinery and pump service centres in Vadodara and Chennai. The company manufactures in India for both domestic and international markets. It also runs a large engineering and technology centre in the country, and the new Pune hub further strengthens this network. Both sites are connected to Sulzer’s global engineering system and support customers worldwide.
The new Global Business Services hub in Pune will play a key role in Sulzer’s international engineering operations. It will also host critical functions such as IT, Legal, Compliance and Supply Chain Management. The centre has the capacity to support 350 team members and will operate as part of Sulzer’s Business Services Initiative, which aims to integrate essential functions to improve efficiency and scalability. Pune was selected for its strong talent pool, modern infrastructure and strategic location within India’s industrial ecosystem. The hub will use advanced technologies and best practices to improve the quality of Sulzer’s global operations.
Suzanne Thoma, Executive Chairwoman of Sulzer, said, “Sulzer, with its 191 years of engineering excellence, continues to innovate and thrive on change. The Pune hub, with its regional and global reach, is built on the expertise of our Indian colleagues and an inspiring example of our company’s continuous evolution following the needs of our customers.”
Sulzer employs more than 13,000 people and operates in 45 countries. The company focuses on solutions that support energy efficiency, lower carbon emissions and improve resource use, which are essential for sustainable industrial growth. It promotes a culture of collaboration, innovation and respect, encouraging diverse ideas and giving every team member the chance to contribute to global progress.
