Sebi has entered into an agreement with the National Forensic Sciences University to enhance its digital forensic and cyber investigation abilities. The regulator announced that the partnership will help it build advanced forensic systems and improve the technical skills of its officials in areas such as digital forensics, forensic accounting and cyber security.
Under the memorandum of understanding, Sebi will be able to use the university’s expertise to set up specialised laboratories for cyber security, digital forensics, forensic accounting, data analytics and related fields. This support will be provided under a consultancy framework.
The National Forensic Sciences University, created under the National Forensic Sciences University Act of 2020, will work with Sebi on research, education, training and wider capability development programmes. As part of the agreement, both organisations will jointly design training modules and professional courses to strengthen the technical proficiency of Sebi officers.
The partnership also includes seminars, workshops and conferences to be conducted by Sebi and the university, with participation from officials and faculty members. The regulator said the move will help improve the quality and depth of its investigations at a time when digital market activity continues to expand.
